Overview:

 

The MP-4 methane sensor uses a multi-layer thick film manufacturing process to fabricate a  and a metal oxide semiconductor gas sensing layer on both sides of a  Al2O3 ceramic substrate, which are packaged in a metal case. The conductivity of the sensor changes when there is a detected gas in the ambient . The higher the concentration of the gas, the higher the conductivity of the sensor. This change in conductivity can be converted to an output signal corresponding to the gas concentration using a simple circuit.

 

Characteristics:

 

The sensor has good sensitivity to methane in a wide concentration , and has the advantages of strong anti-interference ability, low power consumption, quickly response recovery, good stability, long life, low cost, and simple driving circuit.

Note: The above figure shows the basic test circuit of the MP-4 sensor. The sensor requires two voltages to be applied: voltage (VH) and test voltage (VC). The VH is used to provide a specific operating temperature for the sensor, either DC or AC. The VRL is the voltage across the load resistor (RL) of the sensor in series. VC is the voltage for testing the load resistor RL and requires a DC power supply.
